World Usability Day announces 2007 healthcare focus

World Usability Day: Making life easy!

World Usability Day is becoming an important annual initiative for sharing information about best practices in accessible design and exploring usability in general.

Founded in 2005 by the Usability Professionals’ Association, the event's mission is to increase the public's awareness of the need to make the services and products important to human life easier to access and simpler to use. Global issues such as healthcare, education and government are addressed through expert forums, exhibits, events and initiatives in numerous locations throughout the world.

The third World Usability Day will take place around the world on November 8, and will feature both local events and webcasts.

This year's theme - healthcare - is particularly conducive to input from people with disability, healthcare professionals, assistive technology and accessibility specialists. Whether it's new medical devices or technologies; equipment design, drug research, approval, or delivery; patient forms or medical record sharing; emergency disaster planning; increasing the functionality of hospitals; online services or everyday healthcare delivery, everyone is affected by usability in healthcare.

There are two primary ways to become involved: by sponsoring a local event and/or by providing a webcast.

More than 40,000 people in 175 cities in 35 countries participated in World Usability Day 2006. If you would like to be a part of World Usability Day 2007 or have any questions contact:
