Description
- Vehicle Overview
- This stylish 2013 Toyota Alphard Welcab sloper is in very good condition inside and out. It has 2 potential wheelchair positions where the wheelchair occupant can ride. One in the second row, left side of the vehicle. The other wheelchair position is in the rear. This gives the wheelchair occupant the choice of using either position. Toyota Alphards are designed to be incredibly comfortable for the driver, the passenger, and, most importantly, the wheelchair occupant.
- This particular vehicle looks more like a luxury van than a wheelchair vehicle. It was designed to have a comfortable interior and classy exterior. The Alphards are well designed for wheelchair use and fit for purpose. The front and second row seats are large and bucket-shaped. The middle row seat reclines with a footrest. This design means that if the wheelchair occupant can transfer, then they will be able to move across into the passenger seat next to the wheelchair - push backwards, recline and put their feet up on the footrest. This would be advantageous if undertaking a classic Aussie long highway trip!
- The rear seats stow on the sides of the rear of the vehicle if not needed, or if they are required, they easily lower and lock into the car floor. Take a look at the photos above. Video coming soon! With full electrical component features, the Alphard has all the extras you'd expect: power windows, mirrors, dual air con, second row dual sliding side power doors, interior 'mood' lighting, ultra soft quality seats and carpet.
- Toyota Alphard Wheelchair Features
- As discussed above, the Alphard was designed with amazing handling stability and a roomy interior, which means an extra comfortable ride for everyone inside, especially the wheelchair passengers.
- This particular vehicle has 2 wheelchair positions to choose from. Both positions have floor mounts front and back into which the restraints are placed. The restraint hooks are extended and locked onto the appropriate position on the wheelchair. Two points hold the front, and two hold the rear. Each position is secured with a lap and shoulder belt.
- The rear ramp is powered by a handheld remote, which electrically lowers, and while it does so, the rear of the vehicle hydraulically lowers to enable easier access into the vehicle.

- Toyota Alphard Engine, Economy and Reliability
- The Alphard is a 2.4 L, 4 Cylinder Automatic, which travels at 11.6 km per litre. The Alphard is truly impressive and, in our opinion, the best there is in the wheelchair-accessible vehicle (WELCAB) market.
- As we have said many times before, Toyota engines are world-renowned for their longevity and reliability, which is why it’s the main brand we stock. It is also a reason why Toyota has a long history of being the largest-selling manufacturer in the world. If you’re after reliability for your wheelchair vehicle, you’re after a Toyota Welcab – it really is that simple.
